The One Design model for the 2018-19 indoor season is the simple-to-build 12 inch wingspan PIPIT ROG. As usual, your PIPIT can be flown at one of the many upcoming indoor flying sessions and contests in the gym at the Penn Brook School in Georgetown, MA, or the Glastonbury High School in Glastonbury, CT. (NOTE: contest and flying session dates for these venues will be posted to the Calendar page on this site soon!)
One-design contest events held during the 2019-20 indoor season will include, High Time, Pylon Race (laps around the balloon “pylon”), and perhaps even the infamous “12 minutes of Georgetown” (most laps around the pylon in a 12 minute period).
Even better, PIPIT is a stick model which means that these models will qualify to enter the FAC Pinkham Field Stick events flown at the Durham outdoor FAC contests and mini-meets as well. So you will have ample opportunity indoors and outdoors to fly your PIPIT in club competitions and fun flys. Have FUN!
One-Design Event Background
For several years now, the Stealth Squadron and the Glastonbury Modelers, based in Glastonbury, CT have been sponsoring a joint One Design Event in their respective indoor free flight model airplane competitions. The indoor flying season for each of these Flying Aces Club “squadrons’ (local model airplane clubs) runs from November through April. Between the two clubs there is ample opportunity to fly these One Design Models which makes this one of the most popular events. Member enthusiasm and participation runs high as the One Design subject and plan is announced before each indoor flying season!
